who am i?
Dominic Caudill is a producer, engineer, writer, and multi-instrumentalist from Charlotte, North Carolina currently based in Boston. Taking lessons under California native and University of New Orleans alumnus Ocie Davis at the age of 6, Dominic’s life in music began with a decade of finding his way around a drum set. In middle and high school, they gained an appreciation for jazz as well as orchestral music beyond their eclectic-at-best taste in music, sparking a deep love of dense harmonies and modern compositional styles.

In high school, Dominic joined and became president of the choral program, including a 3 year term as co-president of the school’s acapella group. For this group, he found himself arranging and composing in the free notation software Musescore, not knowing much about the technical aspects, but writing nonetheless. Mostly arranging tunes by The Beach Boys, Dominic honed his skills as a writer while taking in the educational literature of high school chorus, wind ensemble, and chamber orchestra.

After acceptance into Berklee College of Music in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, he expanded his musical pursuits into recording and production. Between December of 2020 and May of 2021, Dominic wrote, recorded, produced, and released his first recorded original work, Lighthouse. Drawing inspiration from Elliott Smith, Car Seat Headrest, and, of course, the Beach Boys, Lighthouse is a truly bedroom’d bedroom pop album. While attending Berklee in-person that fall for their sophomore year, Dominic continued work on music while drumming in Foxy Grandpa, a cowpunk three-piece consisting of himself on drums, Chase Allardice on bass (primarily) and Matt Hannon on guitar (usually).

In November and December of 2022, Dominic began to release their second album, nervous system- a dark, brooding effort with dense production and bleak themes. The second LP shows a stark contrast to the first, being longer, more intentional, and much more mature and personal. Around the same time, they recorded drums, as well as some guitars and vocals for the debut Foxy Grandpa studio album, Here’s to Feeling Good All the Time, released March 4th 2023. Dominic has been working in the Berklee College of Music studio spaces, overseeing operations and working tech support for studio gear. Currently, he provides drums as a substitute for various bands around Boston while playing with Foxy Grandpa. Dominic also does assorted freelance work around production and virtual clientele.
